About

Product information

TMC-56 is a 100% hydrofluoroether fluid with similar properties to Vertrel XF. It is used for the critical cleaning of lighter soils and as a co-solvent for heavier-duty cleaners like T-DCE. It works very well for PFPE grease and oil removal. It also works well as a carrier fluid for PFPE lubricants.

It is also used for sleeve testing and has a dielectric strength of 28 kV, compared to 27 kV for Vertrel XF. It has excellent material compatibility.

Applications:

TMC-56 can be used as a light-duty cleaner, co-solvent, and carrier fluid for the deposition of materials such as silicone and other lubricants. Its quick evaporation rate low water content and preferable environmental properties make this an ideal solvent for use in certain industries. It can also be used as a heat transfer fluid, due to its non-flammability and low water content. It can replace HFC, CFC, and HCFC in many applications.

Environmental Properties:

TMC-56 ingredients are listed as acceptable by the U.S. EPA under the SNAP program as a substitute for ozone-depleting substances and are not subject to SARA Title III (EPCRA) reporting regulation. It is not considered a Hazardous Air Pollutant (HAP) and therefore is not regulated under NESHAP. TMC-56 is not considered hazardous waste in the US as long as hazardous material is not deposited into the solvent during the cleaning process.

Materials Compatibility:

TMC-56 is compatible with most polymers and elastomers typically encountered during industrial use. The solvent is also compatible with stainless steel, aluminum, iron, and every other metal commonly used in precision parts manufacturing. A complete reference chart showing plastics and elastomers compatibility is available on page 2 of the TDS. In laboratory bench tests of widely used plastics and elastomers, there were very few incompatibilities found after immersion in coiling vapors for up to 15 minutes.

Flammability:

TMC-56 exhibits no flash point on either Pensky-Martens Closed Cup (ASTM D93) or Tag Closed Cup (ASTM D56) methods and is not classified as flammable by OSHA or DOT. TMC-56 is not classified as flammable or hazardous for transport by DOT.

Health and Safety:

Refer to the SDS for detailed description of the figures for the individual chemical component of TMC-56 and required/ recommended PPE.
